Open House Cocktail and Presentation on the ICC

Come Enjoy some wine and cheese with your professors and fellow students, and find out what is going on within the ICP department and the AUPPA this semester. Kicking off our events series and following the cocktail will be a presentation on the International Criminal Court by one of the special advisors to the prosecutor.

Rwanda: Genocide and the Politics of Non-Intervention

The AUPPA and the French Club present “Rwanda: Genocide and the politics of Non-Intervention”, a lecture on the 1994 genocide in Rwanda and the international community’s unwillingness to intervene.
The event will include the testimony of Marie Leinualda Munyakazi, genocide survivor, as well as a lecture by Jean-Francois Angevin Romey, Politico Military Analyst and former investigator of the International Criminal Court for Rwanda. Mr. Romey will discuss the inability and unwillingness of the international community to act to stop the genocide and will also discuss whether or not the politics of non-intervention have changed since 1994.
Refreshments will be served!

Tostan Lecture on Women’s Right
The AUPPA is proud to present Lisa Block, AUP Graduate student and volunteer with Tostan, who will speak about the issue of female genital cutting. Tostan is a non-profit organization that works to empower African communities to bring about sustainable development and positive social transformation based on respect for human rights.

AUPPA Conference: Social Activism: Importance, Achievements and Potentials
The AUP Politics Association, in conjunction with the International and Comparative Politics Department, is proud to present the First Annual AUPPA Conference: Social Activism: Importance, Achievements and Potentials. The event will take place on April 19 at Combes, in C12 and C13 from 15:00-18:50. The program aims to provide more information on the opportunities of getting involved and the importance of being socially active. In addition, three lectures on outstanding research done by students on contemporary crises will be presented, followed by a discussion on possible solutions. During the four parts of the conference, students will learn about the recent changes in the ICP department. This is the first joint event for undergraduate and master students in the department.
AUPPA is happy to announce its second Fund Raising.
