About Us

If you visited Clubs Night, Fall 2007, or if you read The Planet - October 2007, you may have already learned that AUPPA is “the representative body of students from the Department of International and Comparative Politics.” It is difficult to explain exactly what this body is as there is no other organization like ours at AUP. Officially created on April 14th, 2007, for less than a month, the members prepared their constitution and documents, which are the reason why the organization works so effectively so far. The regular meetings are held once a week and started in October. At the beginning, we focused mostly on the inner issues regarding the organization, as elections, logo, website, membership development, etc.
Goals for the Year:
The main goals are membership development and organization of events with social or charitable purpose. The organizational work will foster friendship and respect among the members of AUP Politics Association and will teach them how to work in a team when limited by deadlines, and how to share responsibility. This is considered vital by the founders of the organization because the students of the department will be the leaders of tomorrow and they must also learn in practice, no only in theory.
Activities Planned:
On the first meeting for the semester, on October 1st, 2007, the members approved the presidential program, which includes 11 key events ranging from fund-raising to a departmental conference. Each event has some aim: the newspaper should provide information, the conference should acknowledge the greatest achievements of the students, the departmental meetings in the end of each semester should bring professors and students together in a friendly non-academic atmosphere, the fund raising activities will target at helping particular countries from the South, etc.
